Open Dispatch: Source Code, Wiki are Live
Earlier this year I started work on an open source, decentralized emergency dispatch, to be hosted on http://opends.co. I never found time to work on it, partially because of a lack of funding. However, I recently started working on it to fit, primarily my needs, and later add features so it will become the project I intend for it to be. For now, the basic receiver, and soon the phone app, are on github, along with install instructions, etc. here: https://github.com/antijingoist/Open-Dispatch/wiki
By trying to keep it very basic, it can be plugged in to many scenarios. With the upcoming repeaters (servers that display the dispatches of many users, and send them to other servers), and phone apps, I feel this will be a very, very flexible system that could assist with many emergencies, and perhaps provide an alternative to the monolithic 911 in the future. However, development is fairly slow because of my day jobs, so if you wish to help, hop on github and contribute, or buy some of my time to work on this. ![]()
